THE ANDES REGION
Highlights of the Andes: The Antisana region in Ecuador is an Andean landscape that consists of the snow-capped Antisana Volcano, páramo grasslands, and high-altitude wetlands. This area is one of the best places in the country to observe iconic high-Andean species, including Andean Condor, Carunculated Caracara, and Silvery Grebe with top mountain scenery.
Its mosaic of lakes, marshes, and open plains supports a unique assemblage of birdlife adapted to extreme elevations, making it a key destination for birders seeking specialized species.
